Old Manana de Marseille

OLD MANADA RUM , the rum with the head of a cat, founded in Marseille in 1897. Cristal Limiñana is a company founded in 1884. Specializing in aniseed, it is gradually expanding its range of spirits. In 2013, the great-granddaughter of the founder, Maristella Vasserot Limiñana, took over the reins of the company. She found at the back of the factory a stock of OLD MANADA RUM labels.

Intrigued, she investigates and discovers that in 1956, Manuel Limiñana, her grandfather, bought the Étienne Reynaud company, its portfolio of brands and its stock. Among the products is the OLD MANADA RUM. Manuel Limiñana sells the stock and will not try to produce it afterwards. Maristella, thinking it is a shame to no longer have rum in the range, decides to resurrect the OLD MANADA RUM. She meets Guillaume Ferroni, the spirits geek in the region. Together, they decided to recreate a rum whose flavors would be close to the historic OLD MANADA RUM. It will be necessary to empty 3 of the 96 bottles scrupulously kept in the factory and listed by the accountants who have succeeded one another to feel all the subtleties of the OLD MANADA RUM. This new manufacture surprises! The first bottles were tasted during the 2nd edition of the Rhum Fest Marseille on November 12, 2017.
