Coruba

It all started more than 120 years ago with a Swiss trader from Basel who was looking around the world for delicious food.

One day, a boat takes him to distant Jamaica, where he discovers a distillate called rum. From the first sip of this tasty drink he says to himself: I will make this frank and authentic rum known to people in Europe. In 1889, he founded the Basel Rum Company in his homeland. The name of the firm being too long to signify a delicate rum, he uses the initials to create the brand Coruba. The original rum from Jamaica then gains new friends around the world. In 1929, the Rum Company Kingston was established under the direction of Rudolf Waeckerlin-Fiechter, to ensure the perfect quality of the raw materials chosen and the rum manufacturing process in Jamaica. Since 1962, Coruba has been produced by Wray & Nephews, Jamaica's most famous rum producer. Blending and bottling for all of Europe is still carried out at the Rum Company in Basel.
