The South African rum market is still very young compared to other regions. However, it is no less interesting. Best known for its wine production, South Africa, with a warm mild climate, has fertile soil for the growth of sugar cane. Since the 1950s, the Mainstay Cane spirit brand has been the local producer of a molasses rum but also a producer of vodka that have made it successful in the region. Nevertheless, today a house is making a lot of noise in the rum world. The Mhoba brand strikes very hard with the production of an artisanal rum, using a process of long fermentation with pure cane juice, distilled entirely in a pot still. The exotic and rich aromas of this rum surprised the community of amateurs and its success is growing.
