Rum from Peru
In Peru, sugar cane grows mainly in the north, in the Trujillo region, and this is also where the Cartavio distillery is located. Created in 1929, Cartavio is the first brand in the country, considered one of the best rums in the world. Millonario rum is produced by the distillery of the same name, located in northern Peru, and created more than a century ago. Peruvian rum is made out of molasses, and uses the solera method. Despite a relatively recent history, the quality of Peruvian rums is undeniable. Their quality does not leave anyone indifferent, being also highlighted by independent bottlers such as Bristol, Plantation or Rum Nation.
