Located in the Lesser Antilles, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, not far from Barbados, is an island that is part of the landscape of rum producers. Not far from the Soufrière volcano, at the start of the 20th century, Saint Vincent Distillers was born. This became the only distillery producing all the brands of the island, distilling a traditional molasses rum. Local consumption is very important there, yet this trade was undermined when banana cultivation took over the island economy. It was only in the 1990s that Saint Vincent and the Grenadines rum regained momentum internationally. The Sunset brand is an example of this, distinguishing itself for many years with one of the most powerful white rums in the world.
