Les Frères De La Côte Foursquare 8 Year Old Finish Ex Bourbon La Favorite + Fine de Meursault
Elaboration
In January 2023, the sailboat without Tres Hombres engine docked at Foursquare (Barbados), the independent house of the Seale family since 1883. Resulting from a double column & still distillation, the rum is first aged in a tropical climate in ex-Bourbon oak barrels. True to the distillery's philosophy: no added sugar, no caramel, no additives. Les Frères De La Côte then carry out a long maturation in barrels containing Fine de Meursault, before being aged at 59.1% which preserves its straightness and depth.
Profile & tasting
Elegant and greedy nose: apricot and dried fig, vanilla, coconut, with a buttery touch reminiscent of Burgundy ageing. Full-bodied and lively palate, carried by ripe tropical fruits, honey and sweet spices (cinnamon, nutmeg), underlined by fine vinous nuances and a creamy texture. Long and warm finish, between candied fruit, toasted oak and a subtle minerality. To be enjoyed neat, possibly with a few drops of water.
