The Cuban
Revolution.
According to the traditional method of rum production in Cuba, a know-how protected by a PDO and recently inscribed on the UNESCO intangible heritage list, Cuban rum produced and bottled on the island must have an alcohol content ranging from 37.5% to 41%. However, we, La Confrérie du Rhum and Excellence Rhum, wondered what a high-proof Cuban rum could be like. Would it have more depth? A stronger attack? More character? During our exchanges with César Marti, maestro ronero of Eminente, we discovered that the same PDO allows, under certain conditions, to exceed this alcohol content.
Therefore, it is with great interest that we have explored much more complex and intense flavor profiles, with much higher alcohol levels, to finally present you with this new cuvée with an ABV of 55.5%, which is a first for Cuban rum, as no rum has ever been bottled with such a high degree on the island.

The selection of this cask strength Saint James rum in March 2022 during a special visit to the cellars in the company of Marc Sassier and Jean-Claude Benoît was a key moment, marking the commitment of Excellence Rhum to only choose the best for its customers.
