On September 11, the great 100% black cane evening was held on a barge on the Quai de la Tournelle, organized by Rhum Bologne. The hand-picked guests were invited to the bar where three Bologne based cocktails were offered:
Dark Daïquiri (black cane rum, cherry puree, lemon, sugar)
Paloma (45° organic rum, grapefruit juice, agave syrup, grapefruit tonic)
Old fashioned (Old Black cane rum, bitters, sugar, sparkling water, orange zest).
The events company La Tulipe, which ran the bar, cleverly offered the Paloma on tap, which ensured a swift service.
The fans strolled on the deck, shared this moment of conviviality and savored the pleasure of being together. Artists like Shuck One, wine merchants, influencers, colleagues, people from different worlds gathered around rum, that was what this Bologne evening was all about.
Everyone was then invited to come down to enjoy the remarkable buffet. But before that, the Mistress of Ceremonies, Maëva Mecorvin-Fandrina, laid out the program for us: concert, food and tastings.
An artist of Guadeloupean and Martinican origin named Afroline, a talented violinist, gave us a magnificent concert. Having benefited from classical training, she moved towards Naija, Amapiano, Dancehall, Kompa and Ragga. This Monday, September 11, alone on stage, she offered us, on a background of Afro-Caribbean sounds, subtle oriental and Cajun notes.
The President of Rhum Bologne took the floor to present the history of Rhum Bologne, reminding us of the major stages of this long history. Then Maëva Mecorvin-Fandrina offered us a tasting of the oldest Bologne Rhum 100% black cane, put in barrels following the first harvest of this cane, in 2014. This vintage, placed in a beautiful case, will be released at cask strength and will be available by the end of the year at a price of €850.
We tasted this powerful rum, marked by cocoa at the start, then enhanced with a few notes of jam.
With this new vintage, Rhum Bologne aims ever higher!
It was a very beautiful evening, supported by the delicious dishes prepared by Maison Xavier Pistol. On the menu, we will mention, among others, plantain hummus, pulled pork with battery syrup, shrimp flambéed with old rum, and chocolate treats with rum caramel and vegetarian chili.
