Luca Gargano was born and lives in Genoa. He is the head of Velier, Italy's largest independent spirits import company. An avant-garde entrepreneur and great connoisseur of alcohols, he was elected Mejor experto de ron 2014, by rum producers. In 2016, the jury of the Golden Rum Barrel Awards named him Best Rum Influencer of the Year in London. Father of the Demerara Selections, discoverer of Caroni in Trinidad and Clairins in Haiti, he has launched many innovative and revolutionary projects that go far beyond the world of rum. In 2014, he published the Atlas du Rhum with Flammarion. Considered a "Rum Bible" by all spirits experts, this book won the 2014 Spirit Book Prize. He has also published a book of photos on Africa, Where life is still legal, which tells the story of ten years of travels in the heart of rural Africa (Éditions Velier, 2017).
