The blend makes sense, particularly for this cuvée which was aged for 3 years in American oak barrels. The wood delivers subtle aromas in perfect harmony with the freshness of sugar cane.
The distillery was founded in 1886 by a Dane named Christiano Matthiessen, an abolitionist engineer who emigrated from Denmark to Brazil to build the main roads that the country now knows. Our engineer buys a farm with the help of Pudente Morais, the President of Brazil at the time. They started making exotic wood furniture as well as coffee roasting. As they went, they planted and harvested sugar cane and distilled a cachaça for their own consumption. It is from 1900 that the production of this sugar cane brandy will take on its full meaning.
Today, his heirs continue the thousand-year-old tradition, producing this exceptional cachaça.
- Distilled from fresh sugar cane juice (agricole method)
