The Absolute Craftsmanship of Campbeltown

Founded in 1828, Springbank is one of the last remaining family-owned and independent distilleries in Scotland. Above all, it is the only one to control the entire production process on site, from malting the barley to bottling. Three styles of whisky are born here: the lightly peated Springbank distilled 2.5 times, the very peated Longrow and the unpeated Hazelburn. For this 21-year-old, the maturation combines about 65% port casks, 25% bourbon, 5% rum and 5% sherry.

Two decades of maritime complexity

The deep golden colour announces a nose of great richness: Medjool dates, sticky toffee pudding, blood orange zest and blond tobacco. On the palate, the oily and silky texture unfolds flavors of smoked figs, caramelized brown sugar and blackberries, carried by a touch of iodine typical Campbeltown. The finish, remarkably long, oscillates between dry peat, sea salt and sweet spices. A 46% contemplative whisky, for connoisseurs in search of authenticity.

Our tasting notes for 21 years

Nose : Au nez, un délice fruité et plein de richesse attendus d'un tel whisky. Des notes de fraise et de melon frais ressortent en premier, appuyé par le sirop, le sucre Demerara et le caramel au beurre.

Palate : Palais complexe, dragées, caramel, et sirop de mélasse au premier plan, font allusion à des fûts de sherry Oloroso utilisés dans la maturation de ce superbe whisky. Le chocolat au lait, la noix de coco et le cuir viennent plus tard.

Finish : Au final, des arômes fumés font une apparition tardive et le dram vous laisse une saveur crémeuse et de chocolat noir. La richesse perdure.

Attention, almost historical monument. It is an understatement to say that Springbank holds a special place in the world of Scotch whisky. First of all, by its geographical location, since there are only three distilleries left in operation in the Campbeltown area. And it's not really the kind of place you pass by chance. Unless you want to isolate yourself from the modern world. This is probably the reason why the distillery still works... the old-fashioned way. From malting to bottling, the entire production process is carried out on site and it is the only one of its kind today in Scotland. This also explains the important place that the distillery holds in the local community. Springbank still employs nearly 70 people on a daily basis, a record number of employees for only 130,000 liters of pure alcohol produced per year (the equivalent of 450,000 bottles). Another curiosity is that three different brands are marketed depending on the production process and the level of peat.
