Grosperrin 2006 Grande Champagne 100% Folle Blanche
This terroir consists mainly of chalky limestone (Campanian), considered the best for the production of cognac. This plot has been cultivated for us exclusively for several years by its owner, who owns a total of 32 hectares of vines. Each year, we buy his harvest of Folle Blanche, which is vinified separately and is then distilled with its lees at the property, then aged in our cellars. The BNIC then seals the harvest. La Folle is a very old grape variety from the Charentes, probably from the Gouais. It has become quite rare in the region (about 1% of the grape varieties) due to a high sensitivity to rot. This batch was gradually reduced to barrels as soon as distillation. The aging was carried out partly in our cellar in Chermignac, in old barrels of 350 L with large grains.
Our tasting notes for 2006 Grande Champagne 100% Folle Blanche
