Grosperrin 1974 Petite Champagne

This vintage Cognac comes from a family of winegrowers from the region of Gémozac, in Charente-Maritime, owner of a farm in Petite Champagne. The whole family is dedicated to both cereals and viticulture, now in organic farming. Their vines grow on calcareous soils.

It was from one of the sons that I bought this lot, which his father had produced more than 40 years ago. It initially consisted of several 550-litre barrels, which were stored in dry cellars at ORECO until they arrived in our cellars.

Our tasting notes for 1974 Petite Champagne

Nose : Nez dense et riche, soutenu par des notes de vieux Balsamique. Il semble plus vieux que son âge, signe d’un long vieillissement dans un fût « en vidange », ayant provoqué une saine oxydation.

Palate : Bouche onctueuse et très équilibrée, avec déjà du rancio.

Finish : Finale longue et épicée, minérale sur la fin. Un Cognac atypique, déjà évolué.
