Brewdog Distilling Co 500 Cuts Pineapple and Mango
Part of the rum produced in this way is used as a base for maceration with different ingredients (Tonka bean, cinnamon, ginger, spices). The other is redistilled with orange zest, green cardamom, Sichuan pepper and cloves. The two new rums are blended and enhanced with a little muscovado sugar (8g/l). It is accompanied by a maceration of fresh mangoes and pineapples.
Five Hundred Cuts owes its name to the work of Elisabeth Blackwell, an herbalist from Aberdeen who wrote a treatise on botany published in 1734 with 500 original plates (500 cuts) drawn by her own hand. Lizzy is considered to be the first spice girl.
