Rum Bullion

RUM BULLION corresponds to the old name of rum. Rum is first mentioned in documents from Barbados around 1650, referring to it as "Kill-Devil" or "Rumbullion" (a word possibly derived from Devonshire, England, meaning "great tumult"). In the English colonies, this alcoholic beverage made from sugar cane or molasses was called Kill-Devil and in the French islands rather Rumbullion (which can be translated as "sugar cane broth"). Then abbreviated, it becomes rum and rum.
