The saga of Karukera began in 1788 with the acquisition of the house "La Sucrerie" by Jean-François Hayot, in Martinique. This entrepreneurial lineage continued until 2006, when Grégoire Hayot inaugurated the KARUKERA rum factory in Guadeloupe, at the Domaine du Marquisat de Sainte-Marie. With the founding of KARUKERA, Grégoire Hayot established himself as a pioneer of aged rum in Guadeloupe, honoring 235 years of family tradition in the production of sugar and rum.

The Karukera - 235th Anniversary is a sublime expression of this centuries-old tradition, harmoniously marrying rums aged in ex-new French oak barrels, reformed alligator barrels after two years of use, and Sauternes casks. The particularity of Karukera rum is that it is made only from blue cane. Blue cane or B69.566 is a variety of sugar cane (native to Barbados).
