Severin Vintage 1986 1L
History of the Distillery Severin
The distillery that gave birth to Severin 1986 has a rich and tumultuous history. Founded before 1920 by Madame Beauvarlet, this distillery has stood the test of time. The reintroduction of distillation marked the beginning of an era of prosperity, which was abruptly interrupted by the explosion of a boiler in 1964. This tragic event paved the way for a necessary modernization, with the installation of a Creole column, which was the heart of production until it was replaced in the 1990s. Despite the efforts, the challenges of the distillery takeover and internal conflicts led to a significant drop in production, until a complete shutdown around 2013. The future of Domaine de Séverin remains uncertain, making each bottle of Severin 1986 a precious vestige of a bygone past.
Severin 1986, more than just a rum
The 1986 Severin is much more than just a rum; it is a time capsule that captures the essence of a time when distilling on the Creole Column was the norm. Produced in limited quantities, this rum was distilled before the upheavals of 2013, thus retaining the soul of its original distillery. Its specificity lies in the use of fresh cane juice, rather than molasses, offering a rich and authentic aromatic palette. Although the label and cork may have slight defects, the quality and integrity of the contents remain unaltered, making each bottle a historical and gustatory work of art.
