A meeting between terroirs and know-how

With Harmony Guadeloupe Papillon, Vagabond Spirits highlights a rum from the Bonne Mère distillery, located in Sainte-Rose, Guadeloupe. This creation pays tribute to the generous flavours of long-stewed fruit and the art of ageing in atypical barrels. Produced from a single cask, this limited edition has only 433 bottles.

Ageing built around an exceptional barrel

This rum benefits from a 3-year fully tropical maturation in first-fill bourbon barrels. It is then matured for four and a half months in a continental climate in a barrel that has contained a natural red sweet wine aged in an oxidative way. This fine-grained French oak barrel brings an extra dimension to the whole. A slow reduction in the barrel completes the balance of the spirit before its bottling at 53.5%.

Tasting notes

The nose opens with notes of camphor, wild blackberry and hawthorn, offering an elegant and refined expression. The palate, lively and precise, evolves towards flavours of very ripe blackcurrant, jammy blueberry and elderberry honey. The influence of the barrel is manifested by a dense and enveloping texture. The finish reveals nuances of lightly roasted oleaginous fruits and continues with a remarkable aromatic persistence.
