A meeting between two traditions and an artistic work

Karibia - Artist Batch 2 by Renée Hardial combines the know-how of the Longueteau distillery in Guadeloupe and the Chelo distillery in Haiti. This blend brings together a rum made from pure red cane juice, aged for five years in new French oak barrels from the Allier forest at the Espérance distillery, and an Clairin Vieux Sajous made from Crystalline cane, naturally fermented with indigenous yeasts and then aged in barrels containing Caroni. Unfiltered and limited to 326 numbered bottles, this edition is also distinguished by its label illustrated by the visual artist Renée Hardial, who uses her work Zaka, inspired by the Haitian god of agriculture.

Tasting notes

The nose opens with notes of vanilla, yellow fruits and light honey brought by the Allier oak, quickly joined by aromas of fresh herbs, cane and a touch of resinous characteristic of Clairin Sajous. On the palate, the roundness, sweet spices and tannins of Guadeloupean rum meet a more lively framework where a rawer cane and ripe fruit are expressed. The finish, long and precise, prolongs the notes of noble wood and spices, accompanied by a saline, vegetal and slightly smoky touch.
