What is the origin of Zacapa Royal?

In order to make Zacapa Royal, Lorena Vasquez, the master distiller of the house Zacapa, carefully selects the rarest and most mature rums. Then, after a long and complex ageing process, Lorena finishes their maturation in very rare oak barrels made exclusively from wood from four French forests formerly owned by the King of France, and known as "Le Bois du Roy".

What is the Bois du Roy?
The Bois du Roy is the name given to the four French forests that give the wood used to make the barrels in which Zacapa Royal's rum is aged. Made up of the forests of Allier, Nevers, Vosges and Tronçais, this wood has been protected since the thirteenth century, when its exploitation was subject to severe restrictions imposed by the King. Since that time, casks have been produced in very limited quantities and are exclusively reserved for the most outstanding vintages.

Our tasting notes for Royal

Nose : Elégant, chaud, au caractère très complexe et équilibré. Il se caractérise par des notes de vanille, de chocolat, de fruits secs, de bois, de muscade, de bananes, dʼananas caramélisés, et dʼamandes grillées.

Palate : Grande ampleur en bouche. Le palais est rond, élégant et délicatement soyeux. On dénote distinctement des arômes dʼagrumes et de caramel.

Finish : Longue et persistante, sucrée, exotique et remarquablement douce.
