The national rum of Guyana

XM is produced by Banks DIH in Georgetown, Guyana. An emblematic local brand, XM is the most consumed rum in the country, a domestic rival to El Dorado. This 7 year old is an authentic Demerara rum, aged for seven years in the tropical Guyanese climate. Less known internationally than its neighbour El Dorado, XM nevertheless offers a typical and accessible Demerara profile.

Demerara Authenticity

The nose is warm and typical: molasses, ripe banana, vanilla, caramel and spices. The palate is round and fruity, with flavors of tropical fruits, toffee, nutmeg and sweet wood. The finish is warm and pleasant. An authentic and accessible rum, perfect for discovering the Demerara style without breaking the bank. Excellent in cocktails or casual tasting.

Our tasting notes for 7 years

Nose : Toffee, vanilla, over-ripe banana, raisin fruit cake

Palate : Medium-bodied, with chocolate orange, caramel, ginger snaps, banana, the juice from tinned pineapples, and the fruit cake from the nose. Very pure sugar character.

Finish : Natural caramel, sugary milky coffee, sweet ginger. The fruit cake flavors linger, with clove, rum’n’raisin ice cream, marmalade.
