The Planters Gold then becomes Pyrat Rum. The now Pyrat Rum spreads in the Caribbean and arrives in Europe. But Anguilla Rums Ltd closed around the year 2010, and production was moved to Guyana. Pyrat is now produced at Demerara Distillers Ltd. and bottled at the Diamond bottling plant.
Pyrat Rum is made from nine different types of rums made from molasses, distilled in stills and columns, and aged in barrels between 3 and 15 years. At the end of the individual ageing, the rums have a strength of 45 to 54% vol. Once assembled, they are aged again in French oak barrels from Limousin and in American toasted oak barrels.
