Uitvlugt was located on a huge sugar production estate at the mouth of the Demerara River. In the 1980s, the land was nationalized and agricultural policy changed. We are moving towards a policy of intensive agriculture and a grouping of plots. The distilleries are therefore gathered and the stills moved. The Uitvlught distillery took over all the stills of the Albion, Blairmont, Port Mourant and Skeldon distilleries when they closed and also closed in 2000. His stills were sent to the Diamond distillery.
