Knappogue Castle 1994 Ex Libris The Happy Prince
Its passionately fruity temperament of rare eloquence, its notes of agave, the different herbal infusions, the honeys it invites us to savour and its spicy and medicinal character are undoubtedly among the highlights of a tasting that embodies Irish sweetness from start to finish.
Knappogue Castle
In 1966, Mark Edwin Andrews bought Knappogue Castle, a fifteenth-century castle in Ireland, which was then in ruins. He and his wife, a prominent architect, embarked on an ambitious restoration program, with the aim of restoring the structure to its original state of glory and grandeur. It was around this time that Andrews began buying potted fine whisky barrels from the best distilleries in the country. The barrels were further aged and bottled under what is now the Knappogue Castle label.
