An artistic and spirits collaboration

For this third edition, La Maison du Whisky and Velier have entrusted photographer Cristina De Middel with the task of immortalizing the essence of the Hampden distillery, located in the parish of Trelawny, Jamaica. His shots, with a cinematographic and surreal aesthetic, capture the humidity, the lush vegetation and the almost mystical atmosphere of the place. Four of his photographs adorn the bottles of this exceptional collection , linking art and rum in the same work.

A Jamaican rum of rare intensity

Distilled between 2016 and 2021, the Hampden HGML 7 Year Old embodies the distillery's iconic style with an ester content of between 1,000 and 1,100 g/hlap. Its aromatic palette evolves strongly: generous fruitiness , delicate floral notes and honeyed accents intensify towards deep empyreumatic nuances. The finish, intensely tarred, reveals an explosive profile and a rare complexity, a signature of Jamaican craftsmanship.

Hampden Estate

Built around 1750 the Hampden distillery originally belonged to a Scotsman Archibald Sterling. Hampden is known for its heavy rums distilled in copper stills. The fermentation is long and natural (no use of commercial yeasts).
