The Scheer Velier Main Rum - MMW Wedderburn 11 Year Old Box is an exclusive edition that allows you to compare the influence of ageing on the same rum, depending on whether it evolves in a tropical climate in Jamaica or in a continental climate in Europe. Selected by Velier and Scheer, these two bottles come from the Monymusk-Clarendon distillery and are made from a blend of 12 casks distilled in 2007 and 2008, entirely in pot still.

An exploration of aging

This box highlights two expressions of the same rum:

  • Continental ageing : This first version has been aged entirely in Europe, offering a drier and more precise profile, with an ester rate of 243.5 gr/hlap. The aromas are concentrated, the woodiness more discreet, highlighting the natural complexity of the distillate.
  • Tropical ageing : The second bottle has been aged for 11 years in a tropical climate in Jamaica, accelerating the interaction with the wood and imparting a more intense aromatic richness. Its ester rate of 315.6 gr/hlap gives it a more pronounced expressiveness, with a typically Jamaican intensity.
