Yamazaki 18 years
Mainly made from whiskies that have matured in old containers that have contained Sherry (a wine originating from Jerez), it borrows all the smooth and voluptuous sensory range typical of this wine. This single malt of unparalleled quality will reveal nuances of grape, apricot, creamy coffee and deep woody scents emanating from the oak. At the tasting, the 18-year-old Yamazaki orchestrates a gustatory ballet in your mouth sprinkled with notes of strawberry, blackberry and dark chocolate, before retiring, leaving a trail of sweet and spicy scents that dance delicately on the tongue.
Nestled in a humid and untouched region, at the crossroads of three majestic rivers, Katsura, Uji and Kizu, the Yamazaki distillery is a sanctuary where the conditions are perfectly aligned for the blossoming of whisky. Initiated in 1923 by the innovator Shinjiro Torii, it is renowned for its single malts imbued with a fruity, woody and spicy personality, forging a reputation that transcends borders.
