A few words about Nine Leaves

The Nine Leaves distillery, founded in 2013 by Yoshiharu Takeuchi in Otsu (Shiga Prefecture), had established itself by its artisanal approach and the use of pure water from Mount Ishiyama. Specializing in black sugar rums (kokuto), it closed in 2023, leaving behind a unique legacy. In 2024, Velier acquired its last batches and stocks of barrels, thus preserving the esprit of this Japanese house that has become cult.

Presentation of this 5-year-old rum

This 5-year-old 2020 Nine Leaves is made from a blend of two 400 L Pedro Ximénez barrels, aged in a former mine converted into a cellar. A true tribute to the sensory world of sherry, it stands out for its bright chromatic nuances — browns, oranges and yellows — and for its aromatic depth. Bottled cask strength at 59% vol., it is offered in a limited edition of 929 bottles.
