We find in this cuvée the memory of the rums of Sainte Luce that Chantal Comte disseminated about twenty years ago, like a passionate return to the Maison La Mauny, of which Daniel Baudin, the Cellar Master is an artist of distillation.

La Tour de l'or 2005 Brut de barrels, from a single barrel, comes from Loge 22 in the cellars of the La Mauny distillery. This cuvée was aged in a single 360 litre French Cognac barrel. With a beautiful shiny, warm, chestnut, animal colour, it offers a beautiful thick disc, guaranteeing its glycerol content, and a superb viscosity.
Its nose is of a rare elegance, it is a tamed exuberance full of incense, liquorice touches, a delicate woodiness. On the palate, we find this character full of elegance and finesse. Notes of pine resin, brioche, incense, cinnamon and vanilla. La Tou de l'Or 2005 is served on a soft dark chocolate cake, a queso manchego, a generous frangipane made of almonds, a "mendiant" of dried fruits. It also accompanies with delight the tasting of a large cigar from Havana or Ecuador.

Why the Tour de l'Or?

Chantal Comte symbolically named this marvel "The Golden Tower" to remind us that it was in Seville that the treasures of the New World, brought back by Christopher Columbus' Caravels, landed. On the banks of the Guadalquivir River, this 13th-century Almohad tower still stands as a nostalgic sentinel in the beautiful Andalusian light. It is a poetic and historical link between old Europe and the distant islands that Saint-John Perse described as "the first solitary islands, the round and ringed islands of an infinity of space like stars... The sea, between the islands, is pink with lust... ».
