The Epic of the Héritiers Madkaud

The saga of the Héritiers Madkaud began with Félicien Madkaud, the son of a slave, who built a rum empire in Martinique in 1895. Despite the historical turmoil, the passion for distillation was passed down from generation to generation until Stéphane Madkaud, who, in the early 2000s, rekindled the family flame by entrusting production to the Saint-James distillery. This "Renaissance" cuvée, celebrated in 2017, marks Félicien's 160th anniversary, thus consolidating the family's indelible imprint in the history of Martinique rum.

Unique Features of Old Renaissance

The Héritiers Madkaud Vieux Renaissance is a masterpiece of blending, aged between 3 and 4 years in oak barrels. This ancestral method, scrupulously respecting AOC Martinique standards, guarantees remarkable quality. This rum symbolizes the fusion between historical richness and artisanal mastery, offering an authentic taste experience.

Héritiers Madkaud

Lieutenant General de Baas-Castelmore, Gourverneur des Antilles Françaises, was the first owner of the Habitation Fond-Capot from 1674 to 1677. It is on this property that in 1865 Félicien Madkaud, a son of a slave, created Madkaud rum.
