A Journey to the Heart of Guatemala
The process of creating the Guatemala Gran Reserva Rum Nation begins with a careful selection of molasses, fermented and distilled in a column still at Destiladora del Alcoholes y Rones, S.A. Tululà. The journey continues to northeastern Guatemala, where the rum, now in ex-bourbon white oak barrels, matures at an altitude of 185 meters in the Hondo River region. This strategic location, chosen for its almost tropical climate and high humidity, favours a rapid and intense maturation, a unique characteristic that gives this rum its lightness and sweetness.
A Symphony of Flavours
On the nose, the Rum Nation Guatemala Gran Reserva seduces with its delicate and floral aromas, blending the typical scent of cane sugar with buttery touches, dates, raisins and orange peel. On the palate, its velvety and warm texture reveals a controlled sweetness, with notes of vanilla, cola, raisins, crème brûlée, and a final hint of herbs reminiscent of vermouth, as well as orange peel, anise and liquorice. The finish, more tannic and toasty, gives way to a herbaceous note and a hint of black pepper, concluding with a delicate sensation of heat.
