History of the house

An emblematic house of cane spirits , Rivière du Mât is based on a recognised technical heritage and a unique volcanic environment. The work of the cellar master enhances this identity, favouring authenticity and consistency within the cellars located in Saint-Louis, in the south-west of the island.

Product Overview

This aged rum is the result of a rigorous selection of batches and then aged in oak barrels for fifteen years, promoting controlled oxygenation and the harmony of aromas. The final blend highlights a clean woody structure and a wide texture, ideal for pure tasting and for lovers of artisanal distillery and long ageing.

Tasting notes

  • Colour : luminous, golden, coppery reflections.
  • Nose : delicate minty freshness, accents of Timut pepper and dried fruit.
  • Palate : frank wood, sweet spices; After aeration, ripe fruit and liquorice wood intertwine.
  • Finish : very long, persistent and elegant.

The Rivière du Mât distillery is one of the oldest distilleries on Reunion Island, it was created in Rivière du Mât in 1886 and transferred to St Benoit in 1984.
