From the beginning of the seventeenth century, the first rums are distilled from fermented sugar cane juice, obtained by pressing using a fangourin. This elaboration makes it possible to preserve the full richness of the aromas of the cane. Distillerie de Savanna, located on the Bois-Rouge site, has a cane juice of exceptional freshness, immediately distilled after fermentation.
Distillerie de Savanna was designed and built by Emile Hugot between 1948 and 1950.
