The Balvenie 21 years old The Second Red Rose

This whisky pays tribute to the story of Margaret Douglas, the 8th widow of the Douglas family who lived for a time in Balvenie Castle. Her landlord at the time, King James II, fell in love with her and offered to pay the rent she owed him with a single beautiful red rose.

In 2008 1st edition Rose Vintage 1991 in tribute to Margaret Douglas. It was a whisky of 16 years of age finish in Port barrels. A 2nd release went on sale in 2009. In 2021, the distillery launches this Balvenie "The Second Red Rose". Aging for 21 years in ex-bourbon barrels then finishing for about 6 months in barrels having previously contained Australian Shiraz giving it a color that tends towards pink and a depth of sweet and vibrant flavor.

The Balvenie is a whisky distillery located in Dufftown, Banffshire, Scotland, in the large whisky producing region, Speyside. Founded in 1889 by William Grant, the distillery is still owned by the company of the same name.
