The rums of Latin America, called Ron, date back to the nineteenth century, when the sugar economy was flourishing. Ron latino is produced from molasses, often in columns and sometimes in stills. They are always sweet, with notes of vanilla, caramel and sweet spices. We have chosen the Botran 15 Reserva which brings us a gourmet but complex profile thanks to the blend of toasted bourbon cask and untoasted sherry cask.
Martinique is, along with Guadeloupe, the birthplace of French rum. At the end of the nineteenth century, thanks to a worldwide sugar crisis, small producers in Martinique turned to pure cane juice rum, thus giving birth to the French style, Martinique obtained the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in 1996. Martinique's Rhum Agricole becomes the world's first AOC rum. We have selected the Saint James VSOP, a gourmet pure cane aged rum combining finesse and voluptuousness on roasted notes of vanilla, cinnamon and candied fruit.
In the eighteenth century, Jamaica was the most sugar-producing island in the Caribbean. Jamaican palates prefer styles with a pronounced flavour and taste and therefore particularly powerful and aromatic: long known as a heavy rum, Jamaican rums have now acquired their letters of nobility.
