History

Officially founded in 1918, the Caronidistillery embodies one of the great names in the history of Trinidad and Tobago rum. Nationalised in 1975 and modernised in the 1980s, it closed its doors for good in 2003. In 2006, Luca Gargano (Velier) bought 1,388 barrels from this unique heritage, making it possible to preserve and reveal to the whole world the heritage of Caroni. The Paradise series pays tribute to this industrial past, like the "Paradis cellars" of cognac, by offering exceptional single casks magnified by Caribbean artists.

Introducing the latest bottle in the Paradise collection

This Caroni 1996 Paradise 12, from cask n°5627, was aged entirely in a tropical climate until 2019, before being transferred to the Cognac region. Bottled cask strength at 60.8% vol., it illustrates the richness of Caroni heavy rums, renowned for their intensity and aromatic complexity. Each bottle is a rare piece, limited to only 234 pieces.

The state-owned Caronidistillery in Trinidad and Tobago closed in 2002. After 84 years of practice, she leaves behind a few column stills, ironing stills and a few barrels that will give birth to the vintages* that we offer.
