In 2005, Velier acquired all the remaining stock on the island. The Caroni 2000 contains rum distilled and fully matured in Trinidad. Tropical conditions result in an 80% loss (angels' share) of distilled alcohol due to evaporation. To perfectly capture the uniqueness of this mythical Trinidad rum, the 2000 Caroni was bottled at 55%.

This is the very first original edition of Caroni 2000 for the U.S. market. This is an import from the US market. We find the characteristics unique to the US market, the 750ml bottle

This reference is imported from the US market, it is paid of all Italian, French and New York State taxes.

Our tasting notes for Caroni 2000 - 17 years (Import US market)

Nose : Le nez est assez étonnant pour un caroni. Les notes hydrocarbures tendent vers des parfums de café torréfié et de fruits secs.

Palate : L’attaque aussi surprend sur une acidité fruitée, du citron vert, et très vite apparaissent des notes médicinales qui rappellent l’eucalyptus. Ce n’est qu’après que nous vient ce café et des notes de noix donnant une légère amertume bienvenue.

Finish : Fait étonnant, la longueur en bouche développe une gourmandise moins visible pendant la dégustation me faisant penser qu’une fois la bouteille épaulée, l’oxygénation dans la bouteille fera gagner le jus en rondeur.

The state-owned Caronidistillery in Trinidad and Tobago closed in 2002. After 84 years of practice, she leaves behind a few column stills, ironing stills and a few barrels that will give birth to the vintages* that we offer.
