Can a decanter change the taste of a spirit?
The decanter is a container in the same way as a bottle. Some carafes have a larger capacity and therefore a larger surface area with air contact. Air is a good oxidizer for rum, just like in a barrel or a cask, just as air can attenuate too much woodiness. In short, decanting a rum can improve it on two axes, the wood and the integration of the alcohol in addition to sublimating it in a new crystal case.
