The story of Chamarel

Located in the south-west of Mauritius, the Chamareldistillery was created in 2008 thanks to the Couacaud family, who had already owned Domaine de l'Exil since 1996. True to its values, it cultivates three varieties of sugar cane by hand – blue, yellow and red – on its 220 hectares, in order to preserve authenticity and local employment.

An exceptional rum

The Chamarel 2017, selected by Habitation Velier, benefits from a double distillation in pot still, a rare method that gives richness and aromatic precision. It was then aged in cognac barrels, giving this spirit a singular elegance and remarkable depth.

Flavour profile

Its sensory palette is distinguished by fruity, honeyed and medicinal notes, enhanced by spicy, chocolate and vanilla accents. An extroverted rum, which expresses all the complexity and maturity acquired over the years of aging.

Habitation Velier

In 1983, when he was only 25 years old, Luca Gargano joined the Velier house and made it one of the jewels of the import of exceptional spirits in Italy. 2015 is the year of the creation of theHabitation Velier, the bottles are refined to bring out the crucial information that makes up a rum. It should be noted that all the cuvées of theHabitation Velier, are reputed to be without added sugar, coloring, or flavors.
