Velier Cuban Rum 1948 Cabeza Llena
Cuba in 1948
At the end of the Second World War, Cuba became the world's leading producer of cane sugar, and its distilleries enjoyed international influence. Large houses such as Bacardi, Matusalem, Arechabala (Havana Club) and Perla del Norte dominated production, while other smaller players contributed to the richness of the rum scene. Distilled in 1948, this rum is one of the rare witnesses of the pre-revolutionary era, a heritage saved from oblivion by Velier. The name "Cabeza Llena" echoes the work of Cuban artist Aconcha, adding a cultural dimension to this unique bottling .
Presentation of this vestige
From a distillery whose trace has been lost over time, this 1948 Cuban Rum has been authenticated by carbon-14 dating, confirming its age (before 1955). Aged entirely in Cuba in a tropical climate, it reproduces all the depth and complexity of the rums of the time. Bottled at 49.1% vol., it is an extremely rare piece, limited to only 250 bottles, and is part of the "Paradise" collection , a tribute to the Caribbean rum heritage.
Aromatic expression
Surprisingly preserved, this rum reveals a subtle balance between fullness and freshness. Its palette evokes the rancio of a great natural sweet wine, enriched with fruity, syrupy and spicy notes. A true time capsule, which revives the elegance and richness of the great Cuban rums of before the revolution.
