This is the first time that Plantation's Single Cask range joins that of the Extreme. In 2018, Plantation released two Long Pond 1996 ITP and HJC in the Extreme range. After a first ageing in Bourbon barrels in Jamaica for 21.5 years, the rum was transferred to the Château de Bonbonnet in France, 2 years in Ferrand cognac barrels, for a new ageing in Rye Whiskey barrels from the New York Distilling Company for 6 months.
It is this unique barrel, a real favorite for the team of enthusiasts that we are within Excellence Rhum. We tasted and selected it by ourselves in the cellars of Château de Bonbonnet at the beginning of 2020. Thus, each Plantation Single Cask has a unique ageing, and each bottle is numbered. Only a few casks of these rums are bottled each year, making these expressions true collector's items. Limited edition of 144 bottles including 42 numbered bottles for Excellence Rhum. The mark ITP and HJC corresponds to a congener (ester) content of 90 to 120 gr/hlaap (hectolitre of pure alcohol) and its acronym stands for Ive Trelawny Pot and 120 to 150 gr/hlaap for HJC. After ageing, this rum develops 280 gr/hlaap of esters for a total of 1133 gr/hlaap of TNA (volatile compounds);

Maison Ferrand originally maintained privileged relationships with the best distilleries in the Caribbean to which it sells barrels that have contained its Cognac. The barrels of the Ferrand house are very popular with some rum producers who use them to refine their product. During these exchanges, Alexandre Gabriel had the opportunity to discover very old batches with an aromatic richness and a diversity of extraordinary aromas.
