The Hampden Distillery
Founded in 1748, the Hampden Estate distillery is one of Jamaica's most iconic distillery. For a long time, it remained discreet, but gained notoriety in 2009, when the Hussey family, via Everglades Farms Ltd, took over the reins. Known for its powerful rums with intense aromas, Hampden is now recognized as one of the jewels of Caribbean spirits, often compared to the Scottish distillery Ardbeg for its singular character.
Transcontinental Rum - Hampden 2012
This Jamaican rum from the Transcontinental Rum Line collection perfectly illustrates the distillery's know-how. Distilled in 2012, it was first aged for 3 years in a tropical climate before continuing its maturation for 6 years in Europe. This double ageing, in oak barrels, gives it a remarkable structure and a rare intensity. Bottled at 58.4% ABV, it is aimed at lovers of rums with character, powerful and authentic, who wish to explore the purest expression of the Jamaican terroir.
