Legacy and Renaissance

The history of Héritiers Madkaud Blanc Renaissance has its roots in Martinique's deep heritage, dating back to 1885 when Félicien Madkaud, son of a slave, founded his distillery in Le Carbet. The brand, revived by his great-grandson Stéphane Madkaud in 2006, pays tribute to l'esprit indomitable and the ancestral art of rum distillation in the family. This revival, nicknamed "Renaissance", celebrates the transmission of know-how from generation to generation, with production now based in Sainte Marie, guaranteeing an authentically Martinican rum.

Héritiers Madkaud

Lieutenant General de Baas-Castelmore, Gourverneur des Antilles Françaises, was the first owner of the Habitation Fond-Capot from 1674 to 1677. It is on this property that in 1865 Félicien Madkaud, a son of a slave, created Madkaud rum.
