A real museum piece where the canes are crushed using a steam press, as it is one of the last devices of its kind in Europe!

It is known that the island of Madeira has fertile, abundant soil and a humid climate, which is suitable for the cultivation of sugar cane.

The Engenhos distillery produces agricultural rums from the pure juice of these canes under the name Rum 970.

A single cask distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2021, after aging in oak barrels that gives it personality and character, is one of his latest creations.

Engenhos Do Norte

Located on the island of Madeira, the Engenhos do Norte distillery has upheld ancestral craftsmanship since 1927. Made from pure cane juice and distilled in column stills, its agricole rums showcase raw, authentic flavors, reflecting the island’s volcanic terroir.
