Inspiration born of experimentation

At the origin of Maurice Café Very Special Coffee Product, an idea inspired by the world of coffee and cocktails. True to its creative approach, Vagabond Spirits revisits its Mauritian cuvée by bringing it a new roasted dimension. This edition also honors the know-how of the Prunier house thanks to a finishing step in a barrel that contained its orange liqueur with Cognac.

An original ageing in several stages

This VSOP rum from Mauritius, from the Beau Plan distillery, was first aged for 51 months in a heavily corked first-fill bourbon barrel. It then benefits from a double finish: three months in a barrel of orange liqueur with Cognac from the house of Prunier, then two months in a new 114-litre French chestnut puff pastry, smoked with organic Mocha Arabica coffee. A drip reduction completes the balance of this cuvée.

Tasting notes

The flavor profile evokes orange sponge cake, macchiato frappé, toasted hazelnuts , and candied orangettes. The palate is ample and empyreumatic, carried by notes of rich and full-bodied mocha. The finish extends this experience with toasted and syrupy nuances, in perfect coherence with its atypical ageing.
