Tres Hombres Republica Dominicana Ed 48
Year after year, we have established a solid relationship of trust with Pedro Ramon Oliver, who now reserves his best barrels for us to " Tres Hombres ". A molasses distillate from all over the Caribbean and aged in oak barrels of different origins , the "Solera" process gives us a rum with a mellow but biting character, with a long and intense hold on notes of cocoa, vanilla and tropical fruit.
Olorosso, Moscatel and Red Wine casks have captured this rum from Oliver & Oliver for a special " Tres Hombres" finish. But first, the rum was aged for 18 years using the Solera system in Bourbon casks. Nearly 5000 miles of sailing across the North Atlantic provided enough adventure to give this rum an ever-evolving excellence upon arrival in Amsterdam.
As many people know, Oliver & Oliver use the Solera system to age rums. The truth is, the word "Solera" reveals a lot about rum before you've even tasted it. How does the Solera system work? This system was first designed in Spain and has been used for many different liquids, Sherry being the most obvious, and balsamic vinegar perhaps the most surprising. The goal was (and still is) the creation of a consistent, reliable and therefore quality product. In Spanish, solera means "on the ground."
And when it comes to aging liquids in this particular way, the barrels are arranged in rows from the ground, with the lowest layer of barrels containing the oldest aged liquid. The next row of barrels is called the first criaderas (or "nurseries" – the translation really tells you everything you need to know) and contains the middle middle age and the second criaderas, the highest level in a three-row configuration – will contain the youngest middle-aged liquid. Each bottle is richly decorated with motifs from the Tres Hombres and their travels. The design with the small handle is reminiscent of ancient maritime times. Closed with a natural stopper, waxed by hand.
