The rum tradition of Santiago de Cuba

The Caney brand is produced in the Santiago de Cuba region, in the extreme southeast of the island, where rum has been distilled since the nineteenth century. Cuban sugar cane molasses, renowned for its quality, is fermented and then distilled in columns according to the Cuban ron ligero method, which favors lightness and aromatic purity. The Maestros Roneros take care of every step of the production process to guarantee a profile that is faithful to tradition.

The distillery where Caney is produced is the most famous in Cuba. It is located in Santiago de Cuba. Brand created in 1962, just after the revolution, Ron Caney, named after the cone-shaped houses built by the "Campesinos" of Cuba, small farmers, benefited from the know-how of the maestros roneros who had not left the island.
