In 2020, the Komagatake Distillery, operated by the Hombo Shuzo Company, underwent major renovations. Among the new facilities, a cellar capable of housing 2,500 barrels has been built. Mars continues to produce exceptional whiskies there. This single cask #2281, aged on the unspoiled island of Yakushima, has been refined in sherry casks. Its aromatic profile is refined and offers an explosion of pastry notes, oriental spices and root nuances. This whisky offers a bewitching triptych, ideal for lovers looking for complex flavours.

Originally from Japan, the Mars distillery has a history as tumultuous as it is out of the ordinary. Its founder is none other than Kiichiro Iwai, the man behind the departure for Scotland of the famous Masataka Taketsuru and especially owner of a spirits company producing shochu (Japanese brandy). The Shinshu Mars distillery enjoys an exceptional geographical location offering its whisky a singular character.
