Velier Beenleigh 10 years Vintage 2013
Today, it is one of the last traditional distilleries in the world still little present on European markets. Beenleigh produces its rums from molasses and local water. It is a "Single Blended Rum", made from an original technique because "reversed": distillation is done first in column, then in pot still. This last still is called "The Old Copper" and it is a still similar to those of Demerara. The rums are then aged in large wooden vats and in old bourbon barrels.
Alongside its official bottling, Beenleigh has begun a collaboration with La Maison & Velier with two releases in 2021. This new reference is quite unique in the Australian rum landscape. The distillery has two ageing cellars: one located near the distillery and a second in the south of the country, in Renmark in the Barossa Valley, a semi-desert environment. This 2013 was aged for 10 years in ex-bourbon barrels in the tropical climate of the Beenleigh warehouse, with a total angel share of more than 25% and bottled at a high degree of 59%.
Beenleigh
Beenleigh, Australia’s oldest distillery, has been crafting exceptional rums since 1884. Made from local molasses and distilled in pot stills, its rums unveil deep aromas of caramel, tropical fruits, and spices. A perfect balance of tradition and intensity.
