Triple aging

Following this triple maturation, the barrels of Tawny Port, Calvados and Cognac have refined this precious Caribbean nectar throughout its return journey. Covering nearly 5,000 nautical miles across the North Atlantic, this voyage gave rum an adventurous dimension, endowing it with a singular "Tres Hombres" signature upon arrival in Amsterdam. The ship's incessant oscillations amplified the aromatic nuances of the rum thanks to the barrels of Tawny Port, Calvados and Cognac, delivering a memorable taste experience.

Basically, the rum Tres Hombres Ed. 67 matured for 18 years following the Solera process. Born in Spain, this system applies to various drinks, Sherry being the most emblematic and balsamic vinegar the most unexpected. "Solera", in Spanish, literally translates to "on the ground". The barrels are organized in strata, from the base to the top. The lower level contains the oldest liquid, the first "criaderas" contains a middle-aged liquid and the second "criaderas", at the top, hosts the youngest. Some of the liquid from the lower barrels is extracted, bottled, then replaced with the contents of the upper barrels, and so on, with the last row being refilled with fresh product.

What is "Spanish Style Rum"?

Spanish rum, or "ron", has its roots in Cuba and other Spanish-speaking islands such as the Dominican Republic.

Obtained from a short fermentation of molasses, this rum often has a light and syrupy texture, making it typically sweeter than an English rum.
